Free Entrance to National Parks

Each year, the National Park Service offers certain days/weeks that they waive entrance fees to all of their parks. Where I’m located, in E. Tennessee, my nearest park (Great Smoky Mountains) is always free. But if you live near one of the more expensive parks, such as Yellowstone, or want to plan your vacation to a more distant park around these dates, then here are the best times this year:

  • April 17-25, 2010
    (National Park Week)
  • September 25, 2010
    (Public Lands Day)
  • November 11, 2010
    (Veterans Day)

So get out there and take advantage of one of the most amazing and underutilized resources we have in this country! Even if all you do is walk a couple of nature trails…free is free (and the exercise is great, too)!
