I really can’t get over what a smart deal this is. I also wanted to mention that you automatically get access to their online support tools and community, which includes FREE counseling! That really surprised me, and I’m quite curious how that works, because I think it could be a huge benefit. I know I’ve had some luck in the past when I’ve joined online communities and interacted with other forum members (it was especially helpful when I went low-carb). Having others to both commiserate and celebrate with is nice, but it’s especially helpful to be able to bounce ideas and tribulations off of others who are in the exact same boat as you.

One thing I noticed is that they did not specify an end date to this promotion, though they do say that these prices “won’t last long,” so I’d recommend checking it out sooner rather than later!

Hi Y’all! Sorry I’ve been away for a while…I came down with a nasty head cold over the weekend that really wiped me out. I’m back though, with an uber-cool idea for Father’s Day (I thought I’d help you get a better jump on it than I did with Mother’s Day…though I suspect I’ll still be able to dig up some last-minute deals for that, too)!

I’ll admit, these are not what you’d call “cheap.” However, they are definite bargains, and as you read on you’ll see why!

What I am all excited about is a selection of wooden watches by a company called weWOOD. The way to make this into a deal is to buy them via Roozt, who are currently running a 50% off special. I’m not sure which is the coolest part of this deal…the 50% off part (It’s a $119 gift card for only $59.50), the fact that it’s a gift card, meaning you can either choose the watch and have it shipped in time for Father’s Day (browse available models here) OR save it and let Dad choose his own watch, or the fact that you’re supporting two awesome causes with one purchase! Hard to believe, but Mother’s Day is once again right around the corner (I can’t believe its almost May already)! This year, VistaPrint wants to make your life easier by helping you create the perfect gift for Mom, and they’re only going to charge you for shipping and handling once you’ve decided what to give her.

If you haven’t checked out VistaPrint yet, I can highly recommend them. Everything I’ve ever ordered from them has been good quality, and was printed and shipped to me in a timely fashion. I just found out that NutriSystem is offering you your first 4-week program for half price! I am seriously considering signing up for this, as I am still fighting the good fight against my weight, and my Weight Watchers Magazine subscription somehow isn’t doing the trick…Probably because I haven’t had much time to cook lately.

Another cool thing about this deal they’re running is that the shipping is free as well. That means you’re actually saving more like 53%. Their normal price for 4 weeks of food (including shipping) is $352.23. While I was shocked by that price at first, once I looked at what I spend on groceries each month, it’s really not that bad. Add in the fact that what NutriSystem provides are prepared meals, which save me on cooking time (and deciding-what-to-cook time ), and it’s looking even more reasonable. But to get it all for $166.65? That’s a no-brainer! While you are signing up for a recurring auto-delivery program in order to get this price, there is no contract or commitment involved, so if you want to cancel after that first month, before you re-up at full price, you’re certainly free to do so.

Another nice thing I found is that they have all kinds of customizations to their plans. They have plans for women, men, seniors, diabetics, vegetarians, and combinations thereof, so if you’re a male diabetic (or happen to know a DH who needs to lose weight…), they’ve got you covered. They also give you the option to customize what is included in your package, so if you hate fish, or want beef every night for dinner…you can pick and choose whatever foods are going to make it easiest for you to stick to your plan. That was something I was a little worried about, so I’m happy to learn that you are given this sort of flexibility. Just make sure to click the “Customized Menu” radio button under “Choose Your Menu Type” when signing up.

Amazon is Giving Away the Farm!

OK, not literally, but I did want to point out to all of my readers that in addition to the daily free Android Apps that Amazon has been giving away (I hope you’ve been checking back there each day – today’s app is The Secret of Grisly Manor, a game that combines working puzzles and locating items to solve a mystery), they have also recently introduced a couple of other great free services.

First up, Amazon quietly sneaked their Cloud Drive onto the market a couple of weeks ago. Cloud Drive is a lot like having a five gigabyte hard drive accessible from anywhere. It’s secure (though I wouldn’t recommend storing your tax records on it…or anywhere else but your local drive, for that matter), and it’s accessible from any computer you can log into your Amazon account from. This means it’s compatible across Mac, PC, and yes, I just verified that it even works with my Android-powered smartphone!

All you have to do is go to the Cloud Drive site, click Get Started, accept their Terms of Service, and solve a letter/number captcha. Then you’ll be taken to a screen that allows you to select the location to which you wish to upload your files (Cloud Drive lets you make folders, just like your local hard drive), and you just choose the files you wish to upload there. You’ll see the progress as your files upload, and once they’re uploaded, you’ll have them with you anywhere you go that has an internet-connected computer.

If you’ve ever used the Dropbox web interface, you’ll find Amazon’s Cloud Drive just as simple to use. Although Cloud Drive does not feature the automatic synchronization that the Dropbox downloadable app does, it gives you five gigs of free storage right off the bat, as compared to Dropbox’s two gigs. And if you buy just ONE mp3 album from Amazon (and they have albums for as little as $3.99), they’ll up your free storage to 20 Gb for a year! You also get free storage for all the mp3s you’ve purchased via Amazon, and that storage DOES NOT eat into your free 5 (or 20) gigs of storage space. Pretty cool, eh?

But wait, it gets better…

Speaking of Amazon and mp3s, they have also launched a new service called Cloud Player. It’s like an extension of their Cloud Drive, only geared specifically toward mp3s, so that you can not only retrieve your music, but also stream it (play it) from any PC, Mac or Android phone. How cool is that?! That means that no matter where you go, if you have access to an internet-connected computer or an Android smarphone with an unlimited data plan, you can play your favorite tunes! You can play both mp3s you’ve purchased from Amazon, as well as your own mp3s that you purchased elsewhere. Just bear in mind that when you upload mp3s you purchased somewhere else, those will be using part of your 5 (or 20) GB of space on the Cloud Drive, whereas the tunes you purchased from Amazon do not.

To get started with Cloud Player, just go here, click on the words “Cloud Player for Web” in step 2, accept the terms and conditions, solve the captcha, and start uploading! Or, if you’d prefer to start with the music you’ve already purchased from Amazon, you can access your Amazon mp3 Settings page, and set it so that your Amazon mp3 purchases will automatically be saved to your Cloud Drive. I haven’t figured out yet how (or if it’s even possible) to move the mp3s I’ve already purchased from Amazon to my Cloud Drive automatically, but I’m betting that they’ll be implementing that functionality soon enough. In the meantime, you can just upload these to your Cloud Drive manually…or be like me and wait until they get it together on their end.

SwiftKey is the sort of app I would never have tried if it weren’t for it being a freebie…but I’m really glad it was! You see, one of the reasons I bought the original Droid is because it came with a full keyboard. I had tried typing on on-screen keyboards, and even with my relatively small fingers, I always managed to foul things up. Being able to tap at a real keyboard with the tips of my fingernails was the perfect solution.

So imagine my surprise when I discovered an app could help me beat my old speed on the full keyboard!

You see, if you don’t have a full keyboard, SwiftKey is designed to let you speed up your typing on an on-screen keyboard. If, like me, you have a full keyboard though, it can STILL help you. This is because as you type on the keyboard, it auto-suggests words at the bottom of the screen, within easy thumb-tapping distance. For example, I got two characters into the word “keyboard,” and it automagically knew what I was going to type based upon context! How cool is that? So I would heartily recommend this app, even if you have a full keyboard on your device, as on any word with more than 3 or 4 characters, it’s going to increase your speed immensely. I love my Droid; it lets me surf, navigate and even work on my blog from anywhere. But I just fell a little more in love with it, thanks to the SwiftKey App.

I strongly suggest getting this app today, while it’s free. Even if you don’t download it to your device immediately, just grab it so that you can download it and set it up at your leisure. It does take a few minutes (and four steps) to set up, and probably a bit longer if you have it analyze your SMS history (I didn’t do this because I rarely use text – Google Talk is my main mode of communication with friends), but it’s well worth the five minutes or so given the amount of time SwiftKey can save you over the long haul. Get it now!
