Wow…Could I have been any slower?! LOL As I mentioned on Saturday morning, my weekend was busy with celebrating. Then, of course, I got into the swing of my week…and my coupon-typing duties got left in the dust! The two SmartSources were the same again this week, while the Redplums were different, with the BHC having fewer coupons than the KNS version. No surprise there. In addition, the USA Weekend magazine (BHC) did not have any coupons, but the Parade (from the KNS) did have a couple:

As for what happened with the weekly inserts…much was the same as always; the SmartSource inserts in both the KNS and the BHC were the same, and the Box Tops surprise insert was also. The only difference was in the RedPlums, and as is usually the case, the KNS had more to choose from there than the BHC. Insert Listings Are Up – Bristol Herald Courier & Knoxville News Sentinel

The SmartSource inserts for both papers this week are exactly the same, but there was a sizeable difference in the coupons found in the RedPlum inserts. For one thing, the Bristol Herald Courier only had one RedPlum in it, whereas the Knoxville News Sentinel had two. See the differences over here.

The KNS’s Parade Magazine had a second Harbor Freight ad with coupons, very similar to last week’s. The BHC’s USA Weekend Magazine had a coupon in it for Fruit of the Loom Packaged Underwear and/or Casual Sportswear Items Save $1.00/2 (9/30). This is the same as a Q found in the BHC’s RedPlum, so if you bought that paper, you got double-lucky if you like FTL Underwear! USA Weekend also had a 15% off $75 or more coupon for GAP outlet, and 15% off $100 or more at Banana Republic Factory Store.

Now, for the lowdown on the inserts…the SmartSource inserts for the two papers were almost identical this week, with one exception; the Knoxville paper got coupons for Systane, I-Caps and Opti-Free, while the BHC did not. There was considerably more variation between the two papers’ RedPlum inserts, and for once, this seemed to be an good thing! Instead of the KNS having lots of coupons and the BHC only having a tiny handful, they each had about the same number, and each had slightly different Qs. The weekend magazines in these papers had a wealth of coupons this week as well. For example, the USA Weekend (found in the Bristol Herald Courier) had the following coupons:

Bristol Herald Courier Coupon Insert Listing Up

Alas, the fellow who delivers the Knoxville News Sentinel had not yet made his rounds when I drove across town to the paper boxes yesterday morning. I didn’t get there until 7:40am, as the latest I’ve ever seen him show up is 7:30. I guess I’ll have to start going at 8 now. It’s difficult, because I have to get there during the “sweet spot.” He only leaves 3 or 4 papers, so if I get there too late, there are none left.

Anyhoo, I did get a couple copies of the BHC, so I’ve added their contents to my Local Coupon Listings page. Among the local highlights are three coupons for Cici’s Pizza and a BOGO for Purina cat treats (just in time, we’re almost out! And you can’t run out of cat treats with three cats in the house…that’s grounds for mutiny!). Also, only a SmartSource this week, no RedPlum, so more than likely the Knoxville paper has very similar coupons, I just wasn’t able to verify for certain.

The SmartSources for the Bristol Herald Courier and Knoxville News Sentinel were *almost* the same this week, while the RedPlums, as usual, had more variation between them, though it was more of a variation this time, instead of just “KNS had lots of coupons, BHC had very few,” which is great news for folks who only get the BHC! I did want to call your attention to one thing; if you’re thinking about using the JC Penney Portrait Studio coupons this week, remember that the ones from the January 31st SmartSource don’t expire until the end of the month. As a refresher, they were:

My apologies for not getting these done sooner! I had a crazy busy weekend (and Thursday and Friday leading up to it) because our annual neighborhood garage sale happened this past weekend. I still haven’t boxed up all the leftovers, but I just couldn’t put off posting the coupon inserts any longer! I’m sure Goodwill will already have lots to deal with from my neighbors, so one more day won’t matter much…I hope.

Anyhoo, the listings are up on my Local Coupon Listings page, and the RedPlums from both papers, while slightly different, were both less than stellar this week. SmartSource is about the same, and of course the P&G inserts have never differed in all the time I’ve been tracking them. So all in all a pretty good haul this week, despite the RedPlum being a bit puny. Also, the Parade Magazine (which only KNS purchasers get) had a coupon for $3.00 off any one Olay Pro-X Facial Moisturizer or Cleanser (7/31), as well as details about Olay’s rebate of $20 when you buy $50 worth of their cleansers and moisturizers.

Have you ever wondered why I bother posting these listings each week? If you’ve ever checked out my Local Coupon Listings page, this info will look familiar to you, but I wanted to go ahead and include this info here for those of you who don’t usually check out that page, so that they know just a few of the many ways these listings can be used. Of course, if you are local, there are lots of other uses for this page as well. For example, you could copy them down to a Word or other text file on your hard drive, and either print and cross out manually, or digitally delete, the ones you’ve already used, so that you don’t get all excited about a deal, and go hunting for the applicable coupons, only to find they’ve already been used. This used to happen to me a lot before I started using this system!

Another example: because I do not clip coupons until I am ready to use them, I use these listings to determine whether or not I have access to the coupons needed for a deal. There are many sites on the web that list pages and pages of deals each week, but I am limited in the number of deals I can take advantage of, both by the coupons I have access to (because there are regional variations for each insert), and the number of copies of a given paper I bought that week (I buy at least one of each a week (assuming they are available), but if it’s an especially rich coupon week, I may buy more from a Coupon Clipping Service).

My apologies for not getting these up yesterday, and just to warn you, next week I may be late also (due to a friend’s wedding). Hopefully they’re not too late to be useful to you, though! Also bear in mind that I already posted the week’s Food Country USA coupon matchups, as they now have a website which allows me access to their flyer earlier in the week.

So what came in this past week’s papers? Well, as usual, the SmartSource Inserts were pretty comparable, but the RedPlums were about a mile apart. The KNS RedPlum had a huge section of Unilever coupons in the front that the BHC’s did not. Other than that, they were mostly (but not completely) the same. Also, because the KNS gets the Parade magazine, it had an extra 3 coupons:

This week is fairly similar to most weeks; almost all of the coupons in the Knoxville News Sentinel SmartSource are the same as those in the Bristol Herald Courier SmartSource; the one exception this week being a page of Purina pet food coupons which is missing from the BHC. The RedPlums are, as usual, quite different, with the count being lower in the BHC than the KNS. This week we also have a few coupons above & beyond the inserts, if you buy the Knoxville News Sentinel. In today’s Parade, there are coupons for the following:

JointFlex Pain Relieving Cream Save $2.00/1 (8/31)
Kerasal One Step Exfoliating Moisturizer Save $2.00/1 (8/31)
Zegerid OTC 14ct or Larger Save $5.00/1 (6/19)

We also find a POMx Antioxidant Pill online Coupon Code that gets you your first bottle free (conditions apply, of course). That coupon code is PH30 and expires 8/31/10. Alas, there are no matching coupons in the BHC’s USA Weekend Magazine.

Also, if you, like me, were wondering if you would ever be able to use the Free/$1.00 off Marcal Small steps coupons, I wanted you to know you’re not alone I had been searching high and low for it around here, and didn’t find it in Wal-Mart, Food City, Whites (now IGA), or Kroger. The only place I had found it was in Office Depot, but they only sold multi-packs, so there was no chance of getting a roll for free. Finally, I learned that I most, if not all, Ingles stores carry this brand. Yay! Free paper products for us!
